Dr. Steven Voris was a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Chaplain Corps for 8 years, including 2 combat tours. He is the author of 2 nonfiction books. Preaching Parables: A Metaphorical Interfaith Approach (Paulist Press, 2008) is the first book to explore parables as a literary genre across religious traditions. Dr. Voris holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University. He lives on the Great Plains with a wife, son, and four grandchildren. Much to his consternation, the 9- and 11-year-old struggle with the value of reading in a video age.
